The 45 Library is a public spectacle designed for the secure housing of misinformation. Best suited to accommodate antiquated ideas from bygone eras, its irregular Roman colonnade is most bombastic but barely functional – it holds up nothing but itself. Fear and hatred make the facade impenetrable and ensure there is no room for public discourse or civil dialogue. Monumental and lacking substance, the grand stair is designed to cause exhaustion before engagement with the false facade is even a possibility. The 45 Library reflects upon the years of a leader who stoked terror, hostility and white supremacy, and attempts to contain this ugliness in a sort of mausoleum space, for the future hopes of all Americans and our democracy.
